SELENA Sing-Along at the Alamo Drafthouse

The Alamo Drafthouse remembers Selena on her birthday with a special screening of the 1997 film Selena, directed by Gregory Nava, starring Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos. During the Sing-Along events, Alamo Drafthouse provides novelty props to use during the film, including a lyric sheet to sing-along to all of the songs. Also, during the pre-show, it will be completely dedicated to Selena with her music videos and rare, hard to find interviews.

The Selena Sing – Along will be held on Saturday, April 16th, at various Alamo Drafthouse locations in Austin. The Lakeline cinema will offer it at 1:00 pm and 4:10 pm; Slaughter Lane at Noon and 4:00 pm at the South Lamar location, there are three show times: 1:00 pm, 4:15 pm and 10:15 pm.

Known as the “Queen of Tejano Music,” to many, she was simply called Selena. Selena Quintanilla-Perez was an American singer, songwriter, spokesperson, actress and fashion designer whose contributions to the music and fashion industry made her one of the most celebrated Mexican American entertainers of the end of the 20th Century. Sadly, Selena was taken from this world far too soon 21 years ago.
