The 19th Annual Cine Las Americas International Film Festival is scheduled for May 4 – 8, 2016 and the films will be presented at The Marchesa Hall & Theatre, The Salvage Vanguard Theater, and The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center. The festival offers narrative and documentary feature and short films, videos, as well as experimental, animation, and music video selections, in competitive and non-competitive sections.
The contemporary films and videos are made by or are about Latinos in the U.S. or the rest of the world, as well as by or about indigenous groups of the Americas. They hail from Latin America (North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean) and the Iberian Peninsula.
There are different ways to attend the festival. For priority access to screenings and events, there is a membership program that allows purchasing a badge ahead of the festival. Film Passes will be available for the general public to purchase. Individual tickets will be for sale at the box office of the Marchesa Hall & Theatre and the Salvage Vanguard Theater and they open every day of the festival 45 minutes before the first screening of the day. The box office will sell tickets daily and only for screenings scheduled for that day at that location. Pricing and purchases online will be available on the website.
Festival screenings presented at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC), 600 River St. will be free and open to the public, with the schedule to be updated soon.
There are volunteer service opportunities, so visit their social media and website to secure information on available assignments you are interested in. http://cinelasamericas.org/film-festival/
